When I tell students in Dublin that their phone 📱, food 🍔 or clothes 👕 could be tainted by the mark of forced labour or modern slavery, they are shocked & demand action. I call on the Irish 🇮🇪 government to consider legislation on the impact of fast fashion & put an end to forced labour, just like France 🇫🇷 has done in recent months. I am delighted today to vote on a European 🇪🇺 ban on products made with forced Labour. #EPlenary #FastFashion #ForcedLabour
@BarryAndrewsMEP There's slavery and forced labour in every western country due to mass immigration. There is sweatshops and forced prostitution but people like you are more concerned about fast fashion than controlling immigration or sanctioning China for enslaving the Uyghurs.
@BarryAndrewsMEP Won't this condemn workers to more poverty? Would it not be better to tackle this through dialogue with the governments concerned and seek to improve the situation?
@BarryAndrewsMEP They're more likely to be bothered by the plague of cookie buttons they have to click on every day. Fix that first, you lot created the problem.
@BarryAndrewsMEP Wait till they hear of the forced labour the EU and FF foisted upon them.
@BarryAndrewsMEP thats great and I can't wait to vote for Niall Boylan
@BarryAndrewsMEP We need to stop big companies moving from the EU to asian to avail of their slave labour market. We should be manufacturing goods in europe to bolster our economy.
